Setting up your website.
To begin with you will need a domain name if you do not already have one.
The DOMAIN NAME or URL = Your website address
Eg www.startupwebsites.uk
USUALLY EXPECT TO PAY (APPROX.)
Free / £1 per year for year 1
£10 - £20 per year for year 2 onwards
Rarer / different endings may cost more.
HOWEVER CLIFF WILL;
Use your existing domain name, or help you get one. Squarespace offers a free domain name for the first year, if you pay for your hosting package annually.
You will then need to arrange the hosting of the website.
HOSTING = where your website lives
Your website needs to be hosted somewhere and Squarespace offers competitive packages.
USUALLY EXPECT TO PAY (APPROX.)
£1 - £5 per month for basic websites.
Up to £10 / £25 a month (£300/yr) when more space is required (e.g. for lots of images and video).
HOWEVER CLIFF WILL;
Use Squarespace to build websites. The Squarespace fee includes the hosting cost. Packages start at £120 + vat if paid annually or £13 + vat per month. Cliff will advise and help as required, contact design@rosen.co.uk
Designing websites.
Cliff has many years of experience of design and art direction and this is where you will benefit working with him and Squarespace rather than platforms like Wix. These platforms have templates yes, however decisions are still required as to which template to use, colour palates, fonts, typestyles and so on.
Cliff will work out the brief with you and decide, with your approval, which template would suit your business. This will form the starting point for your website.

Building the website.
Once the template and design are decided we move onto to the site build itself. Whilst the template provides the structure of the site, there are many variables within it to decide on. These are normally dictated by the content of the site - ie the text and images. It’s important to have as much of this content in advance as is possible. Cliff can always assist with adjusting copy and with choosing images if required.
If you do not have existing photography but do not have the budget to commission some, unsplash.com is a good resource for free, copyright free images.
Social media accounts can be linked to the site if you have any.
Cliff will build in some SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) so that your site will have the best chance of showing up in good position on Google.
The site will be developed online but not go ‘live’ until you are happy.
What does this cost and include?
That depends on how successful you are! There is the initial deposit of £200* and balance of £300* payable on the first 500 unique visitors. Visitor numbers will be visible at all times through the back reporting system which you will have access to.
If, then, for example the website puts on 500 more unique visitors per month then that will cost £100* per month. If it is 1000 unique visitors for any particular month then that will generate a cost of £200* for that month and so on. This unique route to getting your business online means that we are as invested in this venture as you! With very little upfront cost (hosting - typically £120 per annum) this will include all design and building of the website once the brief has been agreed.
The ongoing costs relating to traffic will be capped by a 12 month commitment from the date of deposit paid. We will of course be delighted to continue working with you after this time. *prices subject to vat
